~ About this Work of Art ~

"The Carriage Ride" was created in 1964. Laszlo Tar moved to New York City in 1959. He loved painting in Central Park - especially the upper east side area. His deep fascination with the colorful contrasts of this beautiful setting, in the midst of a forest of tall buildings and bustling traffic, is brought to life in this wonderful work of art. In the backdrop is the skyline, with the famous Essex House Hotel (left). In the fore are colorful autumn trees with a stream of runners, bike riders, children and a loving couple taking a carriage ride. The original is a watercolor and gouache painting and the print is an exquisite color matched replica that will have very special meaning to anyone who has ever visited this special place.
