About this Work of Art ~
"Winter
Lake"
was created in 1967 by Laszlo Tar. The scene is The Lake in historic
Central Park, New York
City on an early Winter day. The first snow has just fallen.
The exact location is just west of the Bow Bridge, with the famous
San Remo apartment building in view. The San Remo is one of New
York's last great apartment buildings of the pre-Depression era.
Mr. Tar loved painting in Central Park. He would go there often
alone to explore and find his perfect spot of reflection - no
matter the weather. On this cold wintery day he captures the
beauty of the moment in this very fresh and painterly work. A
really wonderful piece!
