About this Work of Art ~
"Play
Ball"
was created in 1961 by Laszlo Tar. The scene is the North Meadow
Ballfield in historic Central Park, New York
City. Although in 1961, Laszlo Tar was quite new to the United
States - and he certainly did not know much about the sport of
baseball - he captures this moment perfectly. Mr. Tar loved painting
in Central Park. He would go there often alone to explore and
find his spot of reflection. On this day he freezes a timeless
moment in this very fresh and painterly work. A wonderful piece
that will have you reaching for your baseball mitt!
The
original is a watercolor & goauche on paper and the print
captures the beauty of that medium in
perfect
detail.
The print is a Giclée produced
on Eclipse (150lb),
100% cotton rag paper using fine pigment inks. Just 90 signed and
numbered prints (and 10 Artist Proofs) exist of this beautiful work of art!
