About this Work of Art ~
"Escape" is
a dramatic original oil painting, created by Laszlo
Tar, circa 1960. In 1956, Laszlo Tar and his family fled their
homeland, Hungary, by foot to Austria and then the United States,
during the revolt against Communism. Arriving in New Jersey's Camp
Kilmer with
only
what
they could
carry, this
traumatic
ordeal left scars that lingered for many years. Laszlo Tar captures
one of the moments of that journey in this very unique
and special piece. The work carries broad symbolic meaning
to the endless struggle for survival and freedom that so many experience
in our world. A fantastic work of art and a conversation piece
that will surely touch many viewers.
