About this Work of Art ~
"Triborough
View" was created by Laszlo Tar in 1970.
Laszlo Tar lived
in New York City since 1960 and loved to paint and draw
the City's many scenic views. This piece was created on
a very cold day from atop the Triborough Bridge - from
the walkway - looking south and down upon Astoria Park,
in Queens and with the city skyline in the backdrop. One
of the amazing things about this print is that when we
were preparing it and under magnified inspection, we could
see the actual crystal formations of ice in the drying
watercolor paint (see the detail images below)
- proof of just how cold it was that day. And take a look
at how masterfully Laszlo Tar captures the skyline - really
beautiful - simple and perfect. As with all of his works,
the artist completed this piece on location. Enjoy this
wonderful masterwork knowing the labor of love that was
required to create it. Highly recommended.
