About this Work of Art ~
"Opening
Day"
was created in 1964 by Laszlo Tar. Tar lived in New York
City starting in 1959. He loved historic Central Park
as a place to paint, draw and bring his family. One of
his favorite areas of the park was the upper east side.
Of the five or so paintings that he completed, which
include the famous Wollman Skating Rink, this work is
considered one of the best. Created in the early winter
of 1964, the artist reflects the extraordinary beauty
of this wonderful spot with the contrast of the Wollman
Rink
, teaming with skaters, in colorful Central Park.
A truly fantastic
work of art!
