About this Work of Art ~
"On
Broadway"
was created in 1964 by Laszlo Tar. The scene is a unique and beautiful
view of the heart of New York City - the crossroads of the world
- the Great White Way - Broadway! Mr. Tar loved to paint and draw
throughout New York
City.
He would travel by foot and public transportation to find his scenes.
On this day, he asked persmission to do his work on the roof top
of a building overlooking Broadway. What a perfect view indeed
of
the
city skyline and streets below with the Empire State Building.
And note the old Astor Hotel on the right (now the Marriott-Marquis
hotel). The
Loews
State
theater
on
the
left features the just released award winning film starring Richard
Burton and Peter O'Toole - "Becket". A magnificant painterly
and unique work that
will deliver endless joy.
The
original is a watercolor & goauche on paper and the print
captures the beauty of that medium in
perfect
detail.
The print is a Giclée produced
on Eclipse (150lb),
100% cotton rag paper using fine pigment inks. Just 90 signed and
numbered prints (and 10 Artist Proofs) exist of this
beautiful work of art!
